The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a wide array of obstetrical and gynecological services. There are 12 full time attendings, 19 full time midwives and 10 full time Physician Assitants and a team of skilled nurses. We also have Specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gyn Oncology and Urogynecology.
Obstetric services include a newly renovated Labor and Delivery Suite, a Mother Baby Unit and a Private Practice Suite. The new outstanding LDR suite offers the latest medical technology combined with a warm and comfortable environment for a safe and memorable childbirth experience. As a mother to be, you deserve the very best and now you have it. You can be confident that Brookdale will provide you and your baby with the ideal atmosphere for this very special occasion. We also have a highly motivated midwifery group that offers services to all women who seek an alternative approach to childbirth. The midwives are trained in diverse cultural backgrounds and offer special services to teenagers with obstetric and gynecological needs.
The Brookdale University Hospital provides excellent care to women with medical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy and those with special needs. Thousands of babies are delivered here every year, including those to women with diabetes and high blood pressure. We have expertise in genetic diseases, including Sickle Cell, Gaucher’s and Tay-Sachs.
The Brookdale University Hospital and its Family Care Centers serve a very high-risk population, yet maintains excellent pregnancy outcomes. Newborn babies have the support of the hospital’s Level III neonatal service.

Gynecological Services
The Department offers highly trained physicians in all areas of gynecology. There are physicians that specialize in the areas of minimally invasive laparoscopic and laser surgery as well as physicians that are trained in pre- and post-menopause syndromes, osteoporosis with a state-of-the art bone densitometer. We have specialists in colposcopy, oncology (breast, cervical and ovarian cancer) and urinary and fecal incontinence.
