Welcome to Occupational Therapy at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.
The mission of Brookdale's Occupational Therapy Services is to improve function and to help patients return to work and community life. Such patients may include, among others, those with work injuries, those who’ve suffered a stroke or heart attack, people with broken bones or other injuries, and people with arthritis, multiple sclerosis or other serious illnesses.
Occupational Therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession. At Brookdale, Occupational Therapy falls under the aegis of Rehabilitation Medicine
Therapists work with people of all ages who, because of physical, developmental, social or emotional problems, need special assistance to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives.
Services include customized treatment programs aimed at improving abilities to carry out activities of daily living, evaluation and help in adapting home and job environments to patient's needs, and instructions to family members and attendants in safe and effective methods of caring for individuals.
Occupational Therapy services are offered at the Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation , and at the hospital for outpatients with hand problems. |
