The Department of Urology has board certified urologists who provide the highest standard of comprehensive urologic care available and strive for the best outcomes for all of our patients.
Our experienced teams of urologists use state of the art diagnostic equipment, advanced treatment techniques including the da Vinci robot assisted technology and many other laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures to manage all urological problems in men, women and children. The entire scope of urological care includes treatment of prostate cancer, other urinary tract cancers, impotence, infertility, stone disease, urinary incontinence and pediatric urology. Its activities are based in the Chernow Urological Research Center, an on-site facility that includes a urologic procedure room, laboratory, examining rooms and offices.
Unni Mooppan, MD
Chairman, Department of Urology
Unni Mooppan, MD, F.A.C.S., is the Chief of the Division of Urology and the appointed Physician in Charge of Pediatric Urology and Laboratory Research at Brookdale University and Medical Center. He is board certified and has more than 46 years of diverse experiences and specialization in Adult and Pediatric Urology. He graduated from the Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education & Research, Pondicherry University in Pondicherry, India. Dr. Mooppan’s postgraduate training began in India achieving him a postgraduate surgical residency Master of Surgery. He continued at Coney Island Hospital accomplishing a Surgical Intern residency for one year, and an additional four years as a resident in Urology at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. He has made extensive contributions to the Brookdale community with his ongoing projects, extensive research and numerous national and scientific work and publications.
Frederick Greenstein, MD
Frederick Greenstein, MD is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and has been in practice for more than 35 years. He received his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine and completed a transitional internship and his residency in Urology at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Greenstein is certified in the use of laser lithotripsy and laser use for urologic surgery including laser prostatectomies and has developed fundamental techniques in microsurgery. He has been distinguished and recognized throughout his tenure, receiving many awards, honors and recognitions. His exemplary bedside manner and utmost kindness towards his patients earned him several accolades Patient’s Choice Awards, The On time Doctor Award and The Compassionate Doctor Recognition. Dr. Greenstein is committed to heart health through the Million Hearts Initiative and speaks multiple languages, including Hebrew.
Antonio W. Montgomery, MD
Antonio W. Montgomery, MD is the Urology Site Director at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine where he graduated with honors. Dr. Montgomery has extensive subdisplinary/postgraduate training, having completed a surgical internship at the University of Louisville. He concluded several additional trainings at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital as a surgical resident, a urology resident, and as Chief Urology Resident, as well as successfully completing a Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Montgomery is board certified with more than 10 years of diverse experiences particularly in urologic services, and own clinical expertise in Robotic Management of Complex Stone Disease and minimally invasive surgical management of benign and malignant disease of the genital urinary tract.
